Need Help

I help older teens and young adults during a transitional time in their lives; such as heading to college, coping with being away from home, launching into adulthood and a career… by giving them skills to understand and manage their “overthinking” brains so they can be successful in life.

About Me

My teenage years were a time in my life where I struggled with feeling alone, isolated and on the “outside.” I had been a soccer player for 10 years when I entered high school and had to quit freshman year due to knee issues that led to my first of two knee surgeries that year. I had lost my identity as an athlete and felt very alone as I struggled to find my place socially. I became active in theater, chorus, and youth activities through my church, but still felt like no one really understood how alone I felt in my own head.
I was fortunate that I found a major (Social Work) and a small college (Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts) that really helped me blossom into who I am today. I have both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in social work
I have been practicing clinical social work for over 25 years. I have worked in many different treatment settings including residential/group home placements, foster care, school system, in-home, emergency room, short-term out patient, and private practice. The majority of my experience is with adolescents; however, I also have experience with all ages of adults.
I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when I was in my early 30s and finally understood why falling asleep was always such a struggle and why my brain was always in overdrive.
I am originally from Massachusetts, which is why I am licensed there. Along with my husband of over 20 years, and our daughter who is now in college, I now live in Northern Virginia/Suburban Washington DC with our rescue pup, Brady, and our “bonus daughter” who is a very close friend of our daughter.
